What to Do in Dubai for a Week? David’s 7-Day Itinerary at Top Luxury Hotels in Dubai
I was delighted to win three nights at ‘Atlantis the Royal’ courtesy of the Kerzner Group. And, since I hadn’t been there for many years, I thought it was time for me to catch- up with the ever-changing landscape of Dubai! This prompted me to request a further four nights (to round off the week) at two other Kerzner properties in their One&Only brand – so my wife and I were soon off on a Dubai adventure!
Hotel One: Bab Al Shams, A Rare Finds Desert Resort
The flight from Manchester, with Emirates, was duly efficient (travelling economy) and upon our arrival in Dubai, we were whisked through the airport for an hour-long private car transfer to our first hotel for two nights – Bab Al Shams, A Rare Finds Desert Resort. Approaching the hotel, it felt like we were going to a ‘Foreign Legion Fort’ but when we reached the reception… ‘WOW’ my thoughts were let’s sign up! This resort is a far more authentic taste of Dubai – with camel rides, falconry and Arabian entertainment – all expertly combined with the luxury facilities any seasoned luxury traveller would duly expect.
Hotel Two: One&Only Royal Mirage, Residence and Spa
My next stop was two nights at the wonderful One&Only Royal Mirage, Residence and Spa. We were shown to a one-bedroom suite – which could only be described as magnificent! We were afforded every courtesy and service the hotel could offer. I can only describe it as proper ‘old school luxury’ with a quiet, homely ambience. There is service and anticipatory service, this hotel delivers both! This little story might exemplify what I am talking about, one day while laying by the pool (where we would get the usual water, cold towels, fruit, ice lollipops, your sunglasses cleaned etc.), when the attendant carrying his icebox came to my sunbed and offered me two slices of cucumber to out over my eyes -it was a true relaxing, luxury spa experience.
Hotel Three: Atlantis The Royal, Dubai
We now come to the original reason for my trip to Dubai, our three-night stay at the phenomenon that is Atlantis The Royal, Dubai! As we approach, the sheer size and otherworldly architecture is totally incredulous, created by world-leading designers, architects and artists! This new landmark is a striking new addition to the Dubai skyline, and now stands as a must when it comes to places to visit in Dubai. Boasting a 90-metre rooftop pool, 17 world-class restaurants, and an unmissable wellness centre, I had an incredible time at this luxury hotel.
What to do in Dubai for a week?
When you visit Dubai, I recommend a week, which is the perfect amount of time to visit all the iconic landmarks of Dubai as well as indulge in the luxury amenities of your hotel.
This incredible city is mostly known for the unmissable shopping scene, especially the famous Dubai Mall, where you can dine in luxury and shop in high-end branded stores like Dior and Chanel. Don’t forget to visit the famous tourist attractions of the city! From the iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest skyscraper and the Burj Al Arab to the Dubai Fountains and the picturesque Dubai Marina (best at night when it’s all lit up!).
Be sure to take a day trip to Palm Jumeirah, the man-made, three-shaped island that’s home to thrilling theme parks like Aquaventure Waterpark, and fun attractions like The Lost Chambers Dubai Aquarium.
For the more adventurous, this desert oasis is home to plenty of activities for those of you who are looking to add some excitement to your Dubai itinerary. Enjoy endless fun at the variety of Dubai parks and desert safari day trips, or take your little ones to the unmissable Underwater Zoo that is home to over 33,000 animals.
